Lennard thanks Sloane for showing him his collection of curiosities the last time they met. Dacre Barrett Lennard (d. 1733) was a Fellow of the Royal Society. Lennard took Sloane's prescription of bitter wine, but his fever remained for a few days. He has headaches that prevent him from sleeping; difficulty breathing; phlegm.
Bitter wine. Sloane also prescribed a purge, but Barrett is reluctant to take it without further consultation.
The fever abated after a few days and the other symptoms are less serious than before.
