Transcription
Genebrier was going to send a parcel by a gentleman traveling to London, but there was a mixup and he had to send it the ordinary way. He informs Sloane of how he is to subscribe to the book ‘Histoire de Carausius’. Sloane is to tell Sir Isaac Newton that Monsieur Varignon’s ‘Nouvelle Mecanique ou Statique’ will be released in eight days. Varignon is described as a member of the royal societies of France, England, and Prussia, a lecturer at the College Royal, and Professor of Mathematics at the College Mazarin. Sloane can reach Genebrier through Martin Harrole, a banker in London.
