Abbé Bignon writes that he could not allow Mr Schoepflin to travel to England without sending a letter to Sloane. Schoepflin is a Professor of History and Rhetoric at the University of Strasbourg. He just recently returned from Italy. Bignon recommends him. Jean-Paul Bignon (1662-1743) was a clergyman, librarian to Louis XIV, member of the Academie francaise, and mentor of Joseph Pitton de Tournefort (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jean-Paul_Bignon).
