Charles Lamotte writes to Dr. Scheuchzer “in hopes to have heard from [him] before now about an affair, [Scheuchzer] was so kind to promise to negotiate for [him]; in relation to [Scheuchzer’s] Society.” Lamotte mentions that he will print a dissertation very soon. Lamotte informs Dr. Scheuchzer that someone he knows is “is in a very bad state of health” and he fears they might have consumption. Lamotte concludes by expressing his “obedient service to Sr Hans Sloane” and thanks him for showing him his “wonders & curiosity” the last time he was in town. Charles Lamotte (d. 25 February 1742) was elected fellow of the Royal Society on June 22, 1727 (The Royal Society. “List of Fellows of the Royal Society 1660-2007.” (July 2007).
