Champion beautifully writes that because of Sloane’s kind promise, he humbly presents Sloane with his book of History and hopes that the Learned Society will cast a friendly eye on its imperfections. Jpseph Champion (1709-in or before 1768) writing master and accountant. Highly regarded schoolmaster, and for his publishing of copybooks and merchant primers. He combined practical business hands with more ornamental styles of writing.
