[fol. 31] Sr 25. feb. 1697/8 I shall have occasion to morrow in ye Afternoon to shew one, ye inclo :sed deed, wch is amongst yor writings, therefor I desire you will send it me by a safe hand to morrow before 13 a Clock to my house in Leicester feilds, I will returne if you a game on Monday pray faile not of it, & you will oblige Sr Yor humble Servant Chr: Montagu
Montagu wishes to show some plant specimens the next afternoon, some of which are mentioned in Sloane’s writings. He asks Sloane to send him these specimens as quickly as possible so they arrive in time for the presentation.
Christopher Montagu, born circa 1660, was the son of Hon. George Montagu and Elizabeth Irby. He married Lady Anne Montagu the daughter of Edward Montagu, 1st Earl of Sandwich, and Jemima Crew (http://www.thepeerage.com/p47622.htm#i476213).
