Abbé Bignon thanks Sloane for sending the catalogues. He requests some books for the Bibliothèque du Roy and that Mr Scheuchzer look into collecting and sending them to France. Bignon is trying to collect books for his personal library. L’Académie des Sciences is continuing its work. ‘M. Le Mareschas de Callard’ is to publish a work of some sort. Bignon adds that ‘M. Daguepeau Chevalier de france’ should be elected an Honorary Member of l’Académie des sciences. Jean-Paul Bignon (1662-1743) was a clergyman, librarian to Louis XIV, member of the Academie francaise, and mentor of Joseph Pitton de Tournefort (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jean-Paul_Bignon).
