Sherard is glad that Krieg and Vernon are in London again. He asks Sloane to be one of their subscribers in his stead, so as to improve his collection. He mentions the work of amateur Italian botanists as well as ‘P. Kammeli’, which refers to the Jesuit priest and botanist Georg Joseph Kamel, who works in the Philippines. Sherard discusses some books received as well as those he intends to buy. He may travel more in future and outlines his tentative plans. He includes a list of books he has procured. Sherard was a botanist and cataloguer. He worked for the Turkish Company at Smyrna where he collected botanical specimens and antiques (D. E.
