Transcription
Hermann acknowledges Sloane’s subscription for 100 copies of the book. Under Sherrard’s advice, she offers Sloane her assurances that the book will not be shipped to booksellers where Sloane’s book is still being sold, and even then, only with Sloane’s blessing. Anna Hermann was the wife of Leiden-based physician and botanist Paul Hermann (1646-1695) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Hermann).
