John Ray’s health prevents him from working. His motivation is failing in light of his Methods and Supplement likely not being published during his lifetime. Sherard will subscribe for 20 copies to help Ray. He discusses plant specimens sent from Boccone. Sherard was a botanist and cataloguer. He worked for the Turkish Company at Smyrna where he collected botanical specimens and antiques (D. E.
