Transcription
Hotton forgot to send February’s catalogue. He sends it along with March’s. He informs Sloane that Paolo Boccone, the Sicilian botanist, died on December 28, 1704 in his 72nd year at Palermo. Hotton has not heard from John Ray and is concerned about his health. He asks Sloane to forward the enclosed letters to Ray. Volkamer, living in Nuremburg, received the seeds from Sherard. Peter Hotton (1648-1709), also known as Petrus Houttuyn, was Professor of Botany and Medicine at Leiden University. He supervised the university’s botanic gardens (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Petrus_Houttuyn).
