Transcription
Hotton encloses a catalogue of new books. He asks if Sloane knows whether Plumier has died on the way to Peru. Pierre Bayle has died. Hotton has the Memoires de l’academie. He lists all of Floyer’s works in his possession. He requests that Sloane send him the new appendix to Samuel Dale’s ‘Pharmacologia’. Peter Hotton (1648-1709), also known as Petrus Houttuyn, was Professor of Botany and Medicine at Leiden University. He supervised the university’s botanic gardens (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Petrus_Houttuyn).
