Hotton asks Sloane to purchase publications on the ‘Ahmella Ceylonensibus’ for him. Ramazzini sent him a lecture he gave at Padua last November about simple remedies. Hotton sends a package of books, catalogues, and seeds through John Bannerman, which includes a second package of books and seeds for Tancred Robinson. He is pleased to hear that John Ray’s unpublished work will be printed posthumously. He would like to see someone write a life of Ray. Hotton would like his correspondence with Ray returned. He has not heard from Floyer in some time and hopes he is well. Peter Hotton (1648-1709), also known as Petrus Houttuyn, was Professor of Botany and Medicine at Leiden University. He supervised the university’s botanic gardens (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Petrus_Houttuyn).
