Scheuchzer sends the rest of his barometrical observations for 1708. He asks Sloane to send barometrical measures and information on the amount of rainfall in London for 1708 so that he can compare them with his findings. Gijsbert Cuper and Valknerius are mentioned as possible successors to Peter Hotton who died in January. Johann Jakob Scheuchzer (1672-1733) was a Swiss scholar and physician. He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1703 and his work was published in the Philosophical Transactions. In 1708 his Itinera aplina tira was published in London. It was dedicated to the Royal Society.
