Ruysch disputes Dr Leijser’s claim that he lied about certain discoveries in his new book, the ‘Thesaurus animalium primus’. Ruysch wants the opportunity to defend himself. Frederik Ruysch was a Dutch botanist and anatomist who came to prominence for his study of the lymphatic system. He preserved many of his anatomical specimens, some of which were human, and his collection of curiosities was visited by the likes of Peter the Great (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frederik_Ruysch).
