Allonville thanks Sloane and the Royal Society for admitting him a Fellow of such an ‘illustre corps’. He comments on the Moon’s atmosphere and the movements of Venus and Jupiter in relation to it. Jacques Eugene Allonville (1671-1732) was a French astronomer and mathematician. He fought in the War of the Spanish Succession and was elected a fellow of the Royal Society in 1715 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jacques_d’Allonville).
