[fol. 112] Tathwell May 7: 1718 Sr I have taken the Electuary, and Bitter’s, which hath done me great service; my feaver now return’s every night, about Eleven, and continues whilest 3 in the morning only a has fitts, which out sweating I must own I have noe opinion, of the Bark, but if yu [sic] think it proper, shall Lay aside all prejudice and remain Sr your most obedient, humble servant Porter Chaplin
Porter Chaplin (d. 1719) was the son of John Chaplin. He married Anne Sherwin, the daughter of Richard Sherwin. He lived in Tathwell, Lincolnshire (George Edward Cokayne, editor, The Complete Baronetage, 5 volumes (no date (c. 1900); reprint, Gloucester, U.K.: Alan Sutton Publishing, 1983), volume V, page 31).
