Garengeot received Sloane’s letter. He sees that Sloane canvassed English booksellers to determine how his book has been received. The booksellers wrote to the translator, but Garengeot has not gotten a response. There is one volume to translate. Garengeot is going to dedicate his work to the Royal Society. Monsieur Denis will present the book to Sloane. René Jacques Croissant de Garengeot (1688-1759) was a French surgeon. He was Surgeon-Major of the Régiment du Roy and the Physician-in-Ordinary of the Roi au Châtelet. Garengeot was a member of l’Académie de chirurgie de Paris and the Royal Society (http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/René-Jacques_Croissant_de_Garengeot).
