Breyne thanks Sloane for the gift of books. He dedicates his ‘Historia Nat.’ to Sloane in return, 10 copies of which have been sent by Captain Edward Nairn. Mr Kenworthy informed Breyne that Nairn has arrived. He requests that Sloane let him know if he has received the package. Breyne asks what happened to the books Mr Miller sent to him. Mr Klein published his book. Breyne briefly discusses recent scholarship and offers his service to Dr Amman. Johann Philipp Breyne (1680-1764) was a German botanist, zoologist, and entomologist known primarily for his work on the Polish cochineal, or Porphyrophora polonica, used in red dye production. He became a fellow of the German Academy of Sciences Leopoldina in 1715 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Johann_Philipp_Breyne).
