    Ongoing Treatment:

    Sloane previously prescribed purging for unknown swellings. Dr. Crombe agreed but thought that they should increased in strength and frequency. Dr. Crombe also suggested the Elaterium (purgative medicine), of which Sloane might decide the preparation and frequency. Dr. Crombe did not write anything, but urged Mr Ruth and Captain Cleese to advise Sloane about the Elatertium, "which he says he hathe effected very great cures by."


    Response:

    Swelling of legs and thighs continued to increase.
