Lewis returns Sloane’s book with apologies for his tardiness. He claims it was not his fault and will explain in person. He will strive to make up for this offence before requesting further favours. Thomas Lewis (d. 1746) attended Magdalen Hall, Oxford, but did not finish his degree. He was admitted a Licentiate of the Royal College of Physician in 1713 (http://munksroll.rcplondon.ac.uk/Biography/Details/2738).
