Pepys believes the East India Company should be thanked in the next Philosophical Transactions. He informs Sloane a personal letter should arrive soon. Pepys offers his nephew’s services to rewrite a fair copy of the letter which can then be presented to him ‘& this matter finally closed.’ Pepys was a naval official who is best known as a result of the publication of his diaries, which recount the various political and social happenings of his day (C.
