Transcription
Gibson thanks Sloane gifting him a book: ‘It had been a great favour in you, to have parted with the Book at any price; and I am sensible how much the turning it into a Gift has added to the obligation on me side.’ Edmund Gibson (bap. 1669, d. 1748) was a clergyman. He served as Bishop of Lincoln and Bishop of London (Stephen Taylor, Gibson, Edmund (bap. 1669, d. 1748), Oxford Dictionary of National Biography, Oxford University Press, 2004; online edn, Jan 2008 [http://www.oxforddnb.com/view/article/10615, accessed 21 June 2013]).
