Transcription
Krieg apologizes for not saying goodbye before returning to Riga. He thanks Sloane for all his favours, hoping that he can return them one day. Krieg recounts his journey and tells Sloane he has sent him some books. He discusses some specimens he encountered along the way. He writes that if any booksellers in London would be interested he will translate the ‘Ars Vitara’ into English. David Krieg (1669-1710) was a garrison physician based in Riga, Latvia. He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1699 with the support of Sir Hans Sloane (https://collections.royalsociety.org/DServe.exe?dsqIni=Dserve.ini&dsqApp=Archive&dsqCmd=Show.tcl&dsqDb=Persons&dsqPos=0&dsqSearch=%28Surname%3D%27krieg%27%29).
