Sherard thanks Sloane for his favours. He will be sending books from Paris, probably through Holland to avoid the customs duties on French goods. Dr Chirac has provided Sherard with books for Sloane. He discusses his travel plans. Sherard was a botanist and cataloguer. He worked for the Turkish Company at Smyrna where he collected botanical specimens and antiques (D. E.
