Copley writes on behalf of Lord Derby, who is on the Island and looking for a new governor. Copley has not been able to find one himself, so he asks Sloane for a recommendation. He is glad to hear Halley has returned to England. Sir Godfrey Copley was a politician and active member of the Royal Society. He was elected a Fellow of the latter in 1691 (C. I.
