Gordon apologizes for missing the Royal Society’s last meeting. He has missed out on the latest Philosophical Transactions and will miss many more, for he will be going to New York for a few years. He asks Sloane to fill him in on what he misses. Patrick Gordon (d. 1702) was a Naval Chaplain on the HMS Salisbury. He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1694 (https://collections.royalsociety.org/DServe.exe?dsqIni=Dserve.ini&dsqApp=Archive&dsqCmd=Show.tcl&dsqDb=Persons&dsqPos=5&dsqSearch=%28Surname%3D%27gordon%27%29).
