Morton contributed nearly one thousand specimens (fossils, shells, bones, teeth, minerals, rocks, man-made artifacts, etc.) to Sloane’s collection (Yolanda Foote, Morton, John (16711726), Oxford Dictionary of National Biography, Oxford University Press, 2004; online edn, May 2010 [http://www.oxforddnb.com/view/article/19364, accessed 2 July 2013]).

Girl was vomited; will be done again at 5:00 that day.

    Response:

The 'foolish girl' ate apples and milk all day, as well as right after she was vomited, which caused her head, limbs, and body to swell up 'so extremely, that in all appearance she was just ready to burst'. She was then prescribed three blisters, which caused six stools and abated the swelling.
