Hotton has received some ‘Ahmella’ seeds. He asks Sloane to inform interested parties in London of this, particularly Sherard. He will send seeds and dried samples of the plant to Sloane as soon as he can. Hotton mentions Scheuchzer’s book proposal again as well as Giorgio Baglivi’s ‘De Fibra Motrice’ (see: MS 4039 ff. 91-92). Peter Hotton (1648-1709), also known as Petrus Houttuyn, was Professor of Botany and Medicine at Leiden University. He supervised the university’s botanic gardens (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Petrus_Houttuyn).
