Transcription
Hotton received the two copies of Lister’s edition of ‘Apicius’ Sloane sent him. He will forward one of them to Geoffroy. He discusses two new publications: one by Horatius de Florianis on the errors in Sbaraglia’s recent book, the other by Antonius Pacchionius on anatomy. Hotton has seeds from Ceylon, which he will send to Sloane. He quotes, in French, a letter from Tournefort, who says that he is finishing his book on his trip to the Levant. Peter Hotton (1648-1709), also known as Petrus Houttuyn, was Professor of Botany and Medicine at Leiden University. He supervised the university’s botanic gardens (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Petrus_Houttuyn).
