Scheuchzer thanks Sloane for sending his book on Jamaica. He asks about the barometrical tables presented in the Philosophical Transactions: Phil. Trans. 1706 25:2378-2387. Scheuchzer is preparing something on Swiss minerals for Sloane and the Philosophical Transactions. He wants to know what progress is being made in the publication of his ‘Itinera aplina tira’. Johann Jakob Scheuchzer (1672-1733) was a Swiss scholar and physician. He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1703 and his work was published in the Philosophical Transactions. In 1708 his Itinera aplina tira was published in London. It was dedicated to the Royal Society. His largest project was the Itinera per Helvetiae alpines regions facta annis 1702-1711, dedicated to his travels and published in four volumes in 1723 at Leiden (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Johann_Jakob_Scheuchzer).
