Ruysch did not write earlier because he has been preoccupied with public anatomical demonstrations and other work. He appreciates being elected a Fellow of the Royal Society and will send human anatomical specimens in return. Ruysch discusses his and Sloane’s botanical collections. Frederik Ruysch was a Dutch botanist and anatomist who came to prominence for his study of the lymphatic system. He preserved many of his anatomical specimens, some of which were human, and his collection of curiosities was visited by the likes of Peter the Great (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frederik_Ruysch).
