Sherard informs Sloane that some of his friends would like to purchase books from Petiver’s collection, including: ‘Canturia[…] Gasophylacia[…] English plants[…] Cantuas and Gasaphy’. De Jussieu is one of the buyers. Sherard was a botanist and cataloguer. He worked for the Turkish Company at Smyrna where he collected botanical specimens and antiques (D. E.
