Treatment
Previous Treatment:
Sloane prescribed medicines and therapies for the boy.
Ongoing Treatment:Stephens suggests the boy should be given medicines in a different manner, 'in Pills, Powders or what other Form you think more proper', or he will not get better. He recommends 'Cold bathing to strengthen the Parts outwardly & a decoction of the drying and strengthening Woods inwardly mix'd with other Medicines I have known to be sometimes serviceable in such Cases'. Stephens will wait for Sloane's direction before changing the boy's regimen.
Response:The medicines Sloane prescribed 'have given him [John Plowden] such a loathing not only to them [the medicines] but also to almost any manner of food as well as Physick'.
