Monsieur Morand, a member of l’Académie des sciences, is the bearer. Abbé Bignon recommends him to Sloane. Monsieur de Chammorel wrote to Bignon informing him of the ‘pauvre M Scheuchzer’ (John Gaspar Scheuchzer), who died. Scheuchzer was Sloane’s librarian. Jean-Paul Bignon (1662-1743) was a clergyman, librarian to Louis XIV, member of the Academie francaise, and mentor of Joseph Pitton de Tournefort (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jean-Paul_Bignon).
