Abbé Bignon was pleased to receive the ‘Monthly Chronicle’ from Sloane. Monsieur de Chammorel is working to purchase more books on Sloane’s behalf. The Philosophical Transactions found a place in the ‘Bibliothèque du Roy’. Bignon sends a ‘Memoire’. Jean-Paul Bignon (1662-1743) was a clergyman, librarian to Louis XIV, member of the Academie francaise, and mentor of Joseph Pitton de Tournefort (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jean-Paul_Bignon).
