Aglionby is happy to receive any news from Sloane and/or the Royal Society. He complains that he has been having difficulty finding an adequate compass. Aglionby bought some ‘Spanish and Italian’ manuscripts at the sale of a ‘fine library’. He asks for a copy of Sloane’s book when it is published. Aglionby describes Madrid as ‘well built’. He details what happens at local funerals and the practice of medicine at the city’s hospitals. He writes of some books he is examining. William Aglionby (c. 1642-1705) was a diplomat and physician. He worked in the Netherlands, Spain, Italy, France, and Switzerland.
