Sir Robert Southwell was a diplomat and government official. He was elected a fellow of the Royal Society in 1662, and was elected president from 1690 to 1695.

Horatio Walpole was a politician, diplomat, and younger brother of Robert Walpole, the first Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. He worked closely with his brother and represented several constituencies throughout his career as an MP including Great Yarmouth and Norwich.

Thomas Tenison was Archbishop of Canterbury from 1694 to his death in 1715. A staunch anti-Catholic, he devoted much time to promoting the Church of England and establishing it as the sole religious institution in England.

William North (1678-1734), 6th Baron North, 2nd Baron Grey of Rolleston, and Jacobite Earl North was an army officer. He married Maria Margarette (1690?-1762) in 1705, the daughter of Holland’s treasurer. He was involved in Jacobite plots after the South Sea Bubble crash.

Paul Lorrain (d. 1719) was a Church of England clergyman. He was secretary to Samuel Pepys until 1700 and was then appointed ordinary (prison chaplain) at Newgate Prison. Lorrain also authored several works of criminal biography.

George Mackenzie (1630-1714), 1st Earl of Cromarty, was involved in many intellectual pursuits including natural philosophy, geography, history, and theology. He fought on behalf of Charles II, and with the defeat spent time in the highlands of Scotland and on the continent. He returned to England after the Restoration.
