Goodall writes on behalf of his friend the bearer, Mr Boulton, who was recently attacked in Dr Greenwell’s book. Boulton wishes to respond, and to this end, Goodall is requesting Sloane provide him with a quotation of support.

Montagu wishes to show some plant specimens the next afternoon, some of which are mentioned in Sloane’s writings. He asks Sloane to send him these specimens as quickly as possible so they arrive in time for the presentation.

Charlett asks Sloane to allow a young undergraduate to wait on him. He hopes Dr Gregory contacted Sloane to pass on Drs Aldrich and Wallis’ best wishes.
Charlett was elected Master of University College at Oxford in 1692 and held that post until his death in 1722. Charlett used the mastership to gain influence, especially through persistent letter-writing to numerous correspondents, sharing the latest literary, political, and scholarly gossip (R. H.
