Morton apologizes for not replying sooner. He has been preoccupied with his work. His book is not yet at press, even though most of it is done. He has been told to wait until all of the entries are finished. Morton will undertake a survey of Northamptonshire to make a new map for his book. As such, he asks Sloane to promote subscriptions to his Natural History of Northamptonshire at the Royal Society.
John Morton was a naturalist who was in correspondence with Sloane from roughly 1703 to 1716. Stepney encloses a treatise about the ear recommended by Dr Garelli, Physician to the Emperor. He held onto it these past two months because he had no means to convey it to England.

Charlett thanks Sloane for his favours. Mr Halley has restored one of Apollonius’ famous works. Only the Arabic needs to be revised and then it can be printed.
Charlett was elected Master of University College at Oxford in 1692 and held that post until his death in 1722. Dale visited Mrs Ray. He told her that Sloane is interested in seeing Ray’s library catalogue. She agreed to loan it to Sloane so long as he returns it as soon as possible.

Cough; several loose stools per day; constant and unremitting fever; 90 pulses per minute; the sight or mention of the bark puts him into an agony and sets him vomiting.

Previous Treatment: Bled.
Ongoing Treatment: Bleeding has been stopped; no reason to use Mr Cypriano's medicine. He is being given infusions of 'Terra Iaponica' with laudanum at night and the pectoral drink during the day.
Response: The current ongoing treatments are handled well because they do not have the 'irritating sharpness' of other treatments, which serve to aggravate Tryon's cough.

Ray thanks Sloane for his letter and asks him to appeal to Mr Willoughby to pay out the half years’ salary her late husband would have earned had he not passed away. The money will be used to cover medical and funerary expenses. As Ray has three young daughters, aged 16 to 20, to care for, she will be forced to dispose of John’s books. Dale is making a catalogue of the library. Ray’s entomological papers are being organized into a draft for Sloane to review.
