Thorpe threatens to resign his position at the Royal Society if he does not receive a salary increase. He cannot afford to live in London as he would like to on his current wage.

Blair will author a letter to the Royal Society, thanking it for admitting him a Fellow. He asks Sloane to receive Dr Kinlock, a friend.
Patrick Blair was a botanist and surgeon whose papers were published in the Transactions. In 1715 Blair joined the Jacobite rebellion as a battle surgeon but was captured and condemned to death. He was visited by Sloane in prison in the hopes the latter might secure a pardon. He mastered several languages and fields of inquiry and became a member of the Royal Society in 1687 as well as being ordained in 1689. The woman had 'her Menses' at the age of seventy, but when it ceased she suffered from hemorrhoids. She was very healthy until the 'Flux ceased', which gave her gout. '[O]ne Year before she dyed there arose an Apostemation on one of her Wrists, which opened, and discharged much chalky matter and some stones. The day she dyed she arose out of her Bed, and after performing some Christian Devotion expired'. Yonge assures Sloane the woman was healthy until the flux of hemorrhoids.
