Hotton has sent a dissertation on the plant ‘Ceylonensibus Ahmella’ to the Royal Society to be published in the Philosophical Transactions. He requests that Sloane purchase twelve English volumes on botany for him. He gives instructions on how he wants the volumes bound. Hotton suggests that Nicolaus Staphorst may be able to get the books to him through his brother living in Rotterdam. He asks for a copy of Ray’s ‘Historia Plantarum’.

Bourdelot addresses an unidentified representative of Sloane’s and states that Sloane’s catalogue is of great interest to him. He plans to continue the Van der Linden catalogue of medical books and asks if Sloane would be willing to help with regards to English medical books and their authors. Bourdelot awaits the Royal Society’s report on dwarfism and shares a number of anecdotes on the subject.
Pierre Bonnet Bourdelot was physician to Louis XIV and the Duchess of Burgundy.
