Pierre Louis Maupertuis (1698-1759) was a French mathematician, philosopher, and man of letters. He was the Director of the Académie des Sciences and the first President of the Prussian Academy of Science at the invitation of Frederick the Great.

René Jacques Croissant de Garengeot (1688-1759) was a French surgeon. He was Surgeon-Major of the Régiment du Roy and the Physician-in-Ordinary of the Roi au Châtelet. Garengeot was a member of l’Académie de chirurgie de Paris and the Royal Society.

David Erskine (1672-1745), 9th Earl of Buchan was invested as a Privy Counsellor in 1697 and held several other posts. He lost his appointments because of his opposition to the Acts of Union 1707.

Louis Bertrand Castel (1688-1757) was a French mathematician. He entered the order of the Jesuits in 1703. Castel authored several works on optics a critique of Sir Isaac Newton’s system in 1743.

Jacob Theodor Klein (1685-1759) was a Royal Prussian jurist, historian, botanist, mathematician, and diplomat who worked for August II, King of Poland. He was Secretary to the Senate of Danzig and was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1729.

Sarah Lennox (1705-1751), Duchess of Richmond and Lennox was married to Charles Lennox, 2nd Duke of Richmond. She was born Sarah Cadogan to William Cadogan, 1st Earl Cadogan and Margaret Cecilia Munter. Sarah was the Lady of the Bedchamber to Queen Caroline from 1724 to 1737.
