John Martyn

John Martyn (1699-1768) was a botanist. He became Professor of Botany at Cambridge, though he was absent most of the time. In 1730 he moved to Chelsea to have access to the Chelsea Physic Garden. Martyn published botanical works throughout his career.

William North

William North (1678-1734), 6th Baron North, 2nd Baron Grey of Rolleston, and Jacobite Earl North was an army officer. He married Maria Margarette (1690?-1762) in 1705, the daughter of Holland’s treasurer. He was involved in Jacobite plots after the South Sea Bubble crash.
