David Krieg (1669-1710) was a garrison physician based in Riga, Latvia. Zwinger is interested in botany, animal life, and minerals. He considers Sloane a great resource for learning about these things. Zwinger offers catalogues from Switzerland. His son is writing a catalogue of plants and stones found around Basel, following Tournefort’s method. Zwinger would like to get these catalogues exposure in France, England, Belgium, and Germany. He offers copies of the catalogues to Sloan and will send medical treatises when the opportunity arises.
Theodor Zwinger was a physician.

Scheuchzer sends meteorological and barometric observations. His natural history of Switzerland is being published in German. He will send a copy to the Royal Society. Scheuchzer mentions Henry Morgan, Governor of Jamaica.
Johann Jakob Scheuchzer (1672-1733) was a Swiss scholar and physician. He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1703 and his work was published in the Philosophical Transactions. In 1708 his Itinera aplina tira was published in London. It was dedicated to the Royal Society. His largest project was the Itinera per Helvetiae alpines regions facta annis 1702-1711, dedicated to his travels and published in four volumes in 1723 at Leiden (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Johann_Jakob_Scheuchzer).

Teissier was pleased to receive Sloane’s letter and apologizes for not writing sooner. He suggests that it must have pleased Sloane to have members of the Royal Family view his cabinet of curiosities.
George Louis Teissier (d. 1742) was a German-born physician. He was physician to George I and George II as well as Westminster Hospital from 1728 to 1733. He also worked at St George’s Hospital and to Chelsea Hospital.
