Schlüter received Sloane’s last letter with the list of books. Steigertahl has sent the books to Sloane. Schlüter did not purchase any defective books because he thought they would be useless. For example, he did not buy the ‘Historia Ethiopica’ because it had no title page and the ending was missing. The books were principally of German and Italian origin. Schlüter tried to find all of the books Sloane included in the list. He received the ’40 êcus’ from Steigertahl to pay for some of them. Schlüter thanks Sloane for his generosity.
